#ATAF2.0 #UX #UserExperience (#done wrong)
We are moving from Gutenberg-galaxy to a new age which is more visual.
We used to handle the world mainly through written text. Now that we have clever computers and phones, we sudently can deal with a lot of things visually and not take the written detour.
How happy I was to try the new ATAF Journey planner! And how annoying it was, when it was almost good but not quit!
The new term here is UserExperience. You know, we are familiar with design, graphical design, industrial design and software design and engineering. All of these are useless without good user experience design!
See how it goes, this is how the ATAF2.0 looks for the user:
I would like to go from my current location to home.
Good so far, I can choose current location!
But see, now the #gutenberg galaxy step in, sadly. I cant choose from the map where I want to go! I should know, not only the address, but the name of the bus stop! I dont know that of course! I want to choose from map! So I have to go backwards.
And it gets worse! The native choice is to look from the names of stations, which I still dont know, I want to see the map! I want to choose from visual user interface, called map! Not from written text! This is the old Gutenberg-galaxy hitting me hard.
Ok, and here I can eventually see the place on map. And now I have to write down and remember the name of the bus stop! I cant just hit the icon on map! So I had to find the name of the bus stop, write it down on a piece of PAPER!!!! and then write it to the app… have to laugh.
Finally I have the route!
So, all ends well. I can get home eventually. But how annoying it was, when this system that has costed so much, is not perfect! It would take just a little bit of User Experience Design to get it right! Maybe next time…You should buy UX Service Design from Jukola7 before launching You app 🙂
How to make ATAF better – fix this
I want to go here option. Of course the user wants to find a place and then get the route from current location to the place. Add this feature.
In this view, what can you see! Fix this issue dear ATAF.
